There is much more to St.Kitts than golden beaches and the pristine sea. To visit an island such as this, so rich in history as it relates to both Caribbean and World developments, and not visit the many histoical sites readily available...is nothing short of sinful.

St.Kitts is host to structures that date back to the 17th century, with architectural influences from the French & English settlers who occupied the territory at that period.
There are various categories to the more than 200 historical sites to be found around the island, we have presented just a taste of the depth of history to be digested when visiting St.Kitts.

These exciting tours and activities are listed below, along with the DMCs that offer them. Make your selections and continue on your pleasure quest to Explore St. Kitts!

Catamaran Cruises
A highlight of almost everyone’s trip here is the catamaran day trip. The "cats of St. Kitts" are legendary for their speed, their grace and their hospitality. Come aboard, have a "boat special" or two, indulge in some spectacular snorkeling off the Southeast Peninsula and enjoy a beach barbecue .

Special Events

Festivals of cultural splendour and musical excellence abound in St.Kitts. With each of the nine major villages having festivals at a specific time of year, there is always some form of cultural activity to bear witness to on the island.

ST. KITTS CARNIVAL
The celebration of carnival in St. Kitts is unique in many ways. It's the only one in the Caribbean that blends the spirit of Christmas with the colorful display of the nation's culture and African heritage. For the past thirty-three (33) years thousands of nationals and visitors alike, have been flocking to the 68 square mile paradise, to party and soak up al the fun and engage in the frolic association with carnival.

ST. KITTS MUSIC FESTIVAL
Throughout its early months of existence, the St. Kitts Music Festival was referred to as "The Shak Shak Festival", named for the shak shaks that blossom on the Poinciana (Cock and Hen Tree), during summer months. But that name was only sparingly used in the first year, as it was felt that it might soon become tiresome. A simpler alternative, the "St. Kitts Music Festival" was suggested and adopted.

Overnight, the St. Kitts Music Festival went from a position of obscurity to the Caribbean Festival to "keep an eye on". The organizing committee was also commended for keeping the premises safe for festival patrons and for creating an event of great value for money. That year, tickets sold for EC$60.00 with Season passes going for a mere EC$240.00.

NATIONAL ARTS FESTIVAL
The National Arts Festival was first introduced in the 1960’s and was spearheaded by former Premier Paul Southwell. It was designed to unearth and develop the creative talents of our people. This was successful in that a number of cultural groups and individuals in the many different disciplines emerged.

Sports

The clear blue waters of St.Kitts provide the perfect environment for a variety of enjoyable sports to enhance your experience. Some of the water sports to be enjoyed include surfing, kayaking, water skiing, wind surfing and jet skiing. Required gear can be rented and/ or purchased directly on the beach and from various water sports shops.

Shopping

Basseterre, the capital, is riddled with small shops and malls, including the Pelican Mall and the TDC Mall, carrying a wide assortment of Kittitian delights and merchandise.

You can buy locally designed clothing, including the popular and well sort-after batik print from Island Hopper and rich art-work from our art galleries. You can also buy local crafts made by our talented sculptures and craftsmen from the Craft House, made from a variety of material and objects, including dried coconut shells, sea shells, wood, metal stones and fabric. Duty free shops line the Circus offering crystal, china, porcelain, gold and silver jewelry, tobacco, liquor, watches, leather goods and many more items.

Golf

From the tee, look east toward an endless sea. To the north, a dormant volcano is coated with a living coat of tropical foliage. Few sounds permeate the setting, save for the soft rush of the perpetual surf.

This observation reveals that golf in St. Kitts is astonishing.

Visitors to St. Kitts have the privilege of play at the St. Kitts Royal Golf Club, the Tom McBroom-designed 18-hole championship golf course.

Few fairways in America can match the signature features of this challenging course. Here, picturesque oceanfront fairways, four tee choices, and 6,911 yards of tropical golf are intertwined with the volcanic landscape of the island. Take special care on 15, 16, and 17 where the Atlantic Ocean creates a formidable water hazard. Two of the courses front nine holes play next to the Caribbean Sea. Where else can you play a round of golf while overlooking not one but two great bodies of water?

The Royal Golf Club will eventually feature golf instruction. A full-service golf pro shop, clubhouse with brand-name golf wear, equipment, and accessories is now available.
