Grenada scuba diving

Dive In Carriacou

The waters surrounding Carriacou offer excellent and varied diving opportunities. Waiting for you are nearly every kind of coral imaginable, along with sea fans, sea horses, graceful rays, curious barracuda and a medley of colourful reef fish including angels, clown fish and grouper.

Carriacou boasts over 20 spectacular dive sites, including Sisters Rock, Jack-A-Dan, Mabouya Island, and Sandy Island, with varying depths from about 7m - 30m and slight currents good for beginners and experienced divers. Dives generally start with a reef slope and end in either a rock-garden or a wreck. Explore a wide variety of marine life ranging form lobsters, stingray, black coral, nurse shark, giant green moray-eel and porcupine/angelfish.

Coral reefs abound around the islands, affording divers a unique opportunity to enjoy the underwater world with clear visibility sometimes to a depth of about 200 feet. Lying beneath both Grenada and sister island Carriacou’s surface is some of the Caribbean’s most dramatic and unspoiled underwater scenery. From lazy drift dives over coral gardens to the Bianca C, the largest shipwreck in the Caribbean, Grenada's and Carriacou's waters offer captivating images to divers of all levels.

Since Grenada and Carriacou are not as heavily frequented by visitors as other Caribbean destinations, the reefs, wrecks and coral walls remain unspoiled by crowds and many have yet to be explored. Divers will discover nearly every kind of coral imaginable, along with sea fans, gorgonians, sea horses, rays, barracuda, dolphin (dorado) and colorful reef fish.

Please note the following regulations. Damaging coral by anchor, chains or any other means anywhere in Grenada's waters is prohibited. No marine life may be taken while scuba diving nor may any coral, sponges, etc. be taken from Grenadian waters at any time. Use of a spear gun, Hawaiian sling, pole spear or a seine net is not permitted without a license.

There are three dive shops on the island. The Dive masters communicate in English, Deutsch and French. Swimming and snorkeling excursions are also offered and equipment is available for rent.

Dive Centers

Grenada's dive shops are owned and operated by industry trained professionals. Day and night dives, along with certification courses can be arranged. NITROX and live aboard packages are also offered.
Grenada's dive operators are governed by the Grenada Scuba Diving Association.
